Colleges are requiring SAT & ACT, and it is happening faster than you thought they would ....

The fact remains that your application NEEDS the SAT/ACT score to be competitive, even if the school doesn't "require" one! With thousands of applications to deal with, colleges always end up trusting standardized tests, such as the SAT and ACT, when they decide to admit students. This is because it is well nigh impossible for them to standardize thousands of schools all over the world in terms of their curricula and GPA, and to standardize millions of students in terms of their extracurricular achievements. Yes, colleges will consider applicants holistically, but the SAT and ACT scores are too well standardized, too much trusted, and too good indicators of college success to ignore!

I am happy that colleges are being forthright about this requirement, because when they say that they are test optional, it confuses many applicants and their parents who wrongly assume that SAT/ACT scores are not important. The fact is that practically every test optional college has been considering the test scores, should the applicant submit them.
